Dramatic photos show a huge police cordon in place after a man was stabbed in Middleton. A man is fighting for his life after he was attacked following a car crash in Rochdale Road on Monday night (July 29).
Police and paramedics were called to the scenes at around 8.30pm to reports of the road traffic collision. Crews arrived and found a man with stab wounds.
He was rushed to hospital from the scene and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. READ MORE: 'No-one will believe a drunk woman over a serving police officer' Witnesses told of how horrified locals ran out to try and help following the collision, which they claim happened after a car was being 'chased', with the victim later attacked.
A local resident, who asked not to be named said: "A friend of mine heard the crash and went running out. They were throwing towels and sheets at him to stop the bleeding before police came. "The black car crashed and he [the driver] tried running away, and then, from the white Golf that was chasing him, someone got out and did what they did to him." Rochdale Road was taped off near to the junction with Hollin Lane late into Monday evening as investigations were carried out.
