Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson looks set for another loan move away from Old Trafford - but he may have been out the door earlier and even permanently had he listened to club great Peter Schmeichel. The former England international looks set for a second loan spell in three seasons, this time to newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

It's quite the turnaround from this time last season, when Henderson appeared to have displaced current No.1, and United's player's player of the season, David de Gea.Unfortunately, the former Sheffield United loan star's injury just before Euro 2020, coupled with De Gea's fine form for the Reds this season, limited Henderson to three measly appearances.

And Schmeichel suggested the 25-year-old should not have signed the five-year contract he put pen to paper on in the summer of 2020."If I am Henderson, I probably wouldn't have signed that contract," Schmeichel said to the Seaman Says podcast last October. "You have to look at the market and then say 'okay, so I've signed the contract and now I am gambling on De Gea leaving, but where can De Gea go?"What club in Europe, that plays in the Champions League, and plays for the championships, can pay him that much money?

There's nobody there. Every big club has got goalkeepers."So he couldn't go anywhere. I would have looked at that and there may have been opportunities for the next level clubs that may have been more beneficial.Do you think Dean Henderson will be able to assert himself as Manchester United's first choice goalkeeper?
