PETA want tombstone for 70 Scots pigs who suffocated to death in lorry crash

animal rights group said. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is looking for planning permission for a memorial to be created in East Lothian.

We told how the lorry carrying the animals overturned and went up in flames on the A1 near Cockburnspath last week. Emergency services raced to the scene but failed to save around 70 pigs that suffocated to death.

PETA propose that the tombstone would be emblazoned with a picture of a pig alongside the statement, ' I n memory of the pigs who suffered and died in a lorry accident at this spot...
