Perth and Kinross will see many COVID restrictions removed from Monday, July 19, it was confirmed today. However, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon did caveat the announcement that the country will move to level zero on July 19 "with modifications".One of these mitigations is that mandatory face coverings will remain in place "for some time to come".

It comes as the COVID spike in Perth and Kinross has started to ease. Hospitality businesses will close at midnight, which was changed from the initial plan to leave closing time decisions according to local licensing rules.Despite "sterling efforts" from hotels, bars and pubs to operate safely, the first minister said the measure is necessary as it is "a relatively risky" environment as people.
