Jennifer Connelly makes rare red carpet appearance with eldest son Kai, 24, at Top Gun: Maverick premiere
Top Gun: Maverick premiere. The actress, who shares eldest son Kai with former partner, photographer David Dugan, absolutely shone at the film premiere, as the pair were joined by Jennifer’s husband Paul Bettany.Jennifer, 51, welcomed Kai during her romance with David two years before meeting Paul, 50, on the set of 2001 film A Beautiful Mind.Strutting the red carpet as a trio in San Diego on Wednesday, Jennifer wore a resplendent gold Louis Vuitton gown, while Paul was suited and booted and Kai sported a slick leather jacket. Very on Top Gun point, we must say.Making quite the entrance fitting for a film showcasing military horsepower, the family arrived together on the famed USS Midway aircraft carrier – which was nearly as impressive as lead actor Tom Cruise’s entrance, as he was choppered in on a helicopter. On this occasion, though, he didn’t fly it himself.Speaking at the anticipated premiere, Tom said it had been a case of ‘now or never’ when discussing plans for the sequel, which comes 36 years after the release of the 1986 hit film.Due to be released in cinemas on May 27, Maverick sees the Hollywood star reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell, with Jennifer joining, alongside Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell – as well as OG star Val Kilmer. After touching down and stepping out onto the USS Midway carrier in San Diego, California, the actor thanked fans and praised his fellow cast members.Speaking to Deadline, he said: ‘This moment right here, getting to see everyone, no masks.

Jennifer Connelly Describes Her 'Magical' Experience Flying With Tom Cruise (Exclusive)
Jennifer Connelly's experience shooting was filled with some high-flying adventure — even if she didn't initially know it was going to be.ET's Nischelle Turner sat down with Connelly during a press event on Tuesday, on board the famed USS Midway aircraft carrier, and the celebrated actress recalled how co-star Tom Cruise took her on a totally unexpected aerial thrill ride.«Originally, I wasn't supposed to fly in the movie, because my character is not an aviator,» explained Connelly, 51, who played Penny Benjamin, a single mother, bar owner and love interest to Cruise' titular Pete «Maverick» Mitchell. «So I had no scenes, no scripted scenes, in an airplane.»However, things changed when Connelly was «in the plane with him shooting a scene» that was originally supposed to take place on the tarmac.«He said, 'So Jen, have you ever been in a P51 before?' And I said, 'No, I haven't. It just hasn't come up for me.' And he said, 'Have you ever done any aerobatic flying at all?' And I said, 'No, why? Is this going somewhere?'» Connelly recalled with a laugh. «He said, 'Well, it's just going to be very gentle, we're gonna do some gentle rolls,' and so that's how he broke it to be that we're going to be flying in that plane.»«But it was really the most extraordinary experience,» she added.

Miles Teller Previews 'Sensitive' Scene Between Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in 'Top Gun: Maverick' (Exclusive)
is finally set to soar into theaters, and fans can look forward to some particularly powerful moments packed with both action and heart.ET's Nischelle Turner sat down with star Miles Teller during a press event on Tuesday, on board the famed USS Midway aircraft carrier, and the 35-year-old actor opened up about what fans can look forward to — including a particularly hyped scene between original cast members Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise.«It's a really sensitive scene. Its a sensitive kind of narrative, when you're bringing Val back and having a scene with [his character], Iceman,» said Teller, trying hard not to give too much away about one of the film's key moments. «There’s one particular scene between Val and Tom that just, man, [hits you] right in the feels.»While Kilmer's involvement in the project was obfuscated back when the film was originally supposed to be released in July 2019, it's since been established that Kilmer's Iceman and Cruise's eponymous Maverick would be sharing the screen once again.According to Teller — who stars as Bradley «Rooster» Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late friend, Nick «Goose» Bradshaw, who died in the first film — Kilmer wasn't just around when it was time to shoot his own scenes.«He would be on set even if he wasn’t in the scene.
