Beetlejuice is coming to an end.

Beetlejuice will end its Broadway run at the Marquis Theatre on Jan. 8, 2023, producers announced today, making the musical the second high-profile production in recent days to announce a post-holiday departure.

It will play its final show at the Marquis Theater on Jan. 8, 2023. But fear not, fans of the afterlife — the stage-version of Tim Burton’s 1988 film about a pesky poltergeist isn’t going away entirely. After the curtain comes down on Broadway, “Beetlejuice” is embarking on a 26-city national tour, beginning on Dec. 6 in San Francisco. It’s the latest in a long line of recent Broadway closures, including “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Dear Evan Hansen” and “Come From Away.”

A+E Studios has entered into a first-look deal with Foster Driver and Zoë Kent through their production company Driver+Kent Media. Under the pact, Driver+Kent Media will develop and produce projects for A+E Studios for sale on all global and domestic television platforms and services.

Today marks the 70th birthday of one of the most creative artists ever seen on television: Paul Reubens, whose Pee-wee Herman persona gave decades of kids the courage to foster their weird imaginations. In the late ’70s, Reubens developed the childlike character at the Groundlings. In 1981, he got his own HBO special based off of his stage show. Fueled by his increasing popularity on late show segments, Reubens made a splash in Variety via a 1984 concert review of Pee-Wee Herman playing the iconic Carnegie Hall.
