Actor Ryan Hawley will return to our TV screens in All Creatures Great and Small, three years after he quit Emmerdale. The TV series based on the books will continue tonight (Thursday, 26 October) where Ryan, 38 will make his debut as Sid Crabtree. But some viewers may recognise the actor who played the role of Robert Sugden in Emmerdale for five years.

Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has made an emotional plea to fans following his close friend's death.The actor, 37, played Robert Sugden on the ITV soap.Earlier this month, Ryan informed fans he would be running the 2022 London Marathon in honour of his late friend Nick who passed away from a terminal brain tumour diagnosis in November 2020 at the age of 34.READ MORE:Emmerdale's most disliked character unveiled - and the soap exit that had fans talkingRyan hopes to raise £2,000 for the St Peter & St James Hospice in Haywards Heath and has asked fans for donations.On his fundraising page, Ryan wrote: "Nick really was like a brother to me: loyal, intelligent, patient, compassionate, a fierce competitor and very, very funny."We did everything together growing up: same classes at school, played in the same football team, traveled wherever we could, made fun of each other a lot and were even best men at each other's weddings."Now I, along with his incredible wife Victoria, and 2 other friends are attempting to raise money for the hospice that provided Nick and his family with care and comfort at the end of his fight."The London Marathon 2022 will take place on Sunday, October 2.Ryan is running the 26.2 mile race alongside Nick's widow Victoria and two more of their friends.Nick was originally diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015 and spent five years battling the disease, having planned to run the marathon himself before his health deteriorated.He is survived by Victoria and the couple's two young twin girls.To fans, Ryan added: "It would mean the world to me to be able to show my appreciation to this Hospice that cared for my friend and family when he needed it most!"The actor exited Emmerdale in November 2019 when his character
