Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley back in soaps after five years offscreen

Former Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley will soon be back on soaps as he’s joining Casualty. Ryan played Robert Sugden, love interest of Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) from 2014 to 2019.The popular pair married in 2018, getting the name ‘Robron’ from fans.

However, Robert and Aaron were torn apart in 2019 when Ryan made the decision to leave the show. In Robert’s final scenes, he was in court for attacking Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), his sister’s rapist who died from his injuries - and he pleaded guilty to the murder of Katie Sugden (Sammie Winward) who he murdered years earlier.

Robert was sentenced to 14 years in prison, leaving his family devastated. Since his Emmerdale exit, Ryan has gone on to appear in Silent Witness and will now join the BBC continuing drama, Casualty as Jamie Cleveland, a member of the board at Holby City Hospital.

He will appear in the episode that airs Saturday 15 June which is the very first episode of the new mini-series titled Storm Damage.The first episode Sinking Ships will focus on Cam (played by Barney Walsh) who is faced with a tough shift.
