Josh Groban, John Mellencamp, Tracy Morgan and the ever-present Jon Stewart will stand up at this year’s Stand Up for Heroes fundraiser. The fundraiser, which benefits injured veterans and their families, will also feature comedians and musicians including Jimmy Carr, Ronny Chieng, Shane Gillis, The War and Treaty and Rita Wilson. Stewart has been a steady presence at the annual event.

New York’s annual Stand Up for Heroes event for the Bob Woodruff Foundation will take place at David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on November 6, featuring performances by comedians and musicians including Jimmy Carr, Ronny Chieng, Shane Gillis, Josh Groban, John Mellencamp, Tracy Morgan, Jon Stewart, The War and Treaty, Rita Wilson and more to be announced.

Inspired by ABC’s 1989-1993 sitcom “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” the series was set in Hawaii and followed Lahela “Doogie” Kamealoha (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), a 16-year-old prodigy juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager.

The comedy fest — which takes place July 14-29 and features solo shows by Ali Wong, Ronny Chieng and Anthony Jeselnik — was born 40 years ago and for decades it has been the place to be seen, with its New Faces showcase attracting a swarm of industry executives and acting as a launching pad for up-and-coming talent.

The development deal marks Kim’s debut at the helm of a sitcom, which Kim will co-write with “Strays” alum, Clara Altimas. The project comes on the heels of her gala performance at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, her debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and a 40-theater North American tour with Ronny Chieng (“Crazy Rich Asians”). “Julie Kim is one of today’s freshest stand-up performers with an impeccable track record for creating comedy gold,” said Karen Tsang, senior VP of creative affairs at Pier 21 Films. “We are incredibly excited to collaborate with her as she plunges into her own scripted series.”
