Apple TV+, posits Jumbo and Capaldi as June Lenker and Dan Hegarty, London detectives linked by a murder committed 10 years earlier — with the wrong man imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.Whether justice will prevail is anyone’s guess.Lenker’s investigation into the murder pits her against the more-senior Hegarty, a well-connected cop who moonlights as a limo driver and runs with his own crew of colleagues called “The 62s.” He seems to be steering June away from finding the real culprit for reasons involving racial and ethical issues … and deep-seated police corruption.The action starts with an anonymous phone call to police from a hysterical woman claiming that her ultra-violent boyfriend (who she doesn’t name) is going to kill her — with the same knife he used to kill a woman named Adelaide Burrows in 2012 while her 6-year-old son, Patrick, cowered in the next room.The woman claims that Errol Mathis, who’s serving 24 years in prison for Adelaide’s murder — they were lovers — was wrongfully convicted of the crime, for which he confessed and then recanted, and that the real killer (her boyfriend) is still roaming the streets and even boasting to her about the murder.Lenker plunges headlong into the case, trying to discover the anonymous caller and digging into what really happened in 2012 with Burrows.

We’re getting the first look at Criminal Record, Apple TV+‘s hourlong London-set crime thriller series starring Doctor Who alum Peter Capaldi and The Good Fight‘s Cush Jumbo as detectives in a tug of war over a historic murder conviction. Onyx Collective has boarded Candice Carty-Williams’ buzzy British drama series Queenie.

BreAnna Bell Onyx Collective and Channel 4 have placed a straight-to-series order for Candice Carty-Williams’ “Queenie.” The eight-episode series will be available on Channel 4 in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland and will stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ in all other territories. “Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in south London, straddling two cultures and slotting neatly into neither. After a messy breakup with her long-term boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places and begins to realize she has to face the past head-on before she can rebuild,” reads the logline. The series is based on Carty-Williams’ best-selling novel.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Prime Video drama “The Devil’s Hour” has cast “Top Boy” star Saffron Hocking for Season 2. The British actor has joined the Hartswood Films-produced drama in the role of Sam Boyd, a detective sergeant who worked under DI Lucy Chambers (played by Jessica Raine) in a past life. “The Devil’s Hour” was created by Tom Moran, and is executive produced by “Sherlock” showrunner Steven Moffat. The six-part thriller premiered on Prime Video in October. The show follows Lucy, a social worker suffering from insomnia, who is inexplicably connected to a number of brutal murders in her neighbourhood, and is drawn into the search for a serial killer. The show also stars Peter Capaldi as Gideon Shepherd, a mysterious criminal with a unique relationship with time.
