Britain's Got Talent star claims he can't get gigs because he's 'white and straight'
Britain's Got Talent comedian Nick Dixon has revealed he was rejected from a gig because he was a "white straight able-bodied male."The star, who has written jokes for Will Smith in the 2019 remake of Aladdin, was put forward to a promoter by one of his fans.Although the star wasn't booked for the stint as the promoter was looking for people from more diverse backgrounds.Sharing his rejection on Twitter, Nick shared a screenshot of what the fan had received from the promoter and their reason why they wouldn't book him.In the message, it showed that the promoter was "aware" of Dixon and continued to name other places where the comedian could perform. It reads: "I kind of have a million billion really good white, straight, able-bodied male comedians that I can call on."I'm trying to find more of the opposite. When I say the opposite I don't necessarily mean a black gay woman in a wheelchair, but I've seen how hard it is for female acts, black acts etc to get on good bills, and it's good to mix it up with character acts."After seeing the message that had been sent to the fan, Dixon shared it on his Twitter saying: "Nothing new of course, but I’m looking forward to a day when I am judged only on the content of my character.
