Jack Dunn Rian Johnson’s whodunnit franchise will soon notch its third installment with the coming production of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” pulling its title from the song by U2. While plot details remain under wraps, Johnson recently announced the return of Detective Benoit Blanc, played by series mainstay Daniel Craig, in a 45-second teaser posted to X. The original “Knives Out”, released in 2019, followed Blanc as he investigated the mysterious circumstances behind the death of mystery novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer).

The first movie, which was released in 2019, explored the death of renowned writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) and how his wealthy, dysfunctional family may have played a role in his demise. Viewers watched as detective Blanc (Daniel Craig) worked together with Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to solve the murder — as the nurse secretly tried to cover up her own involvement.

After a limited one-week theatrical release, billed as a 'sneak preview', Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery dropped on Netflix on Friday, December 23.Written, directed and produced by Rian Johnson once again, the Knives Out (2019) sequel features another ensemble cast led by Daniel Craig, who's the only actor to reprise his role from the original, as master detective Benoit Blanc.Edward Norton is among the newcomers, playing Miles Bron, a billionaire and owner of a large technology company, who some fans think is a parody of Elon Musk. In fact, some of them have already flooded social media with comments about how the character is a direct shot at the new owner and CEO of Twitter.

And that’s before you get to the dozen or so cameos that Johnson sprinkled throughout the 140-minute film. Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, as well as Hudson and Craig, are joined by everyone from Ethan Hawke to Serena Williams, the latter two appearing in minor roles throughout the film.
