James Bond star George Lazenby has retired from acting at the age of 84.The Australian actor followed on from Sean Connery, taking on the mantle of 007 in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. He was the second actor ever cast in the role, and although he only appeared as Bond in one film, it remains beloved among fans.Now, Lazenby has announced a heartfelt statement that he is officially retiring from acting and won’t be making any more public appearances.“This hasn’t been an easy decision but it’s time to announce my retirement from work,” the actor wrote on X.“Therefore, I won’t be doing any more acting or making public appearances, doing any more interviews or signing any more autographs as of today.

During an appearance on RTE Radio 1’s “The Ray D’Arcy Show,” Brosnan shared his thoughts on reports that Taylor-Johnson will be taking over the iconic role. “I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so,” Brosnan said of Taylor-Johnson.

James Bond director Martin Campbell has said he was sceptical of Daniel Craig playing the role of 007.Campbell directed 2006’s Casino Royale, which was Craig’s first film in the role after taking over from Pierce Brosnan.Speaking to The Express, Campbell explained why he was a little hesitant to cast the actor in the legendary role, largely owing to his physical differences from previous Bonds.“My only reticence with Daniel… he was really a superb actor, there’s no doubt about that… it was the fact that with people like Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan was that they were all traditional looking Bonds,” Campbell said. “All handsome guys, all sexy, all very attractive to women and so forth.“Daniel was obviously tougher and ruggeder, but he wasn’t a traditional handsome guy,” he added.
