Jamie Lang Disney Branded Television continues its long and fruitful relationship with the Annecy Animation Festival today with an annual presentation of project greenlights and series renewals. The company is also sharing first looks at exciting upcoming shows and specials from its preschool and kid-focused slate.

The “Phineas & Ferb” revival is in good hands.

Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, co-creator and executive producer of Phineas and Ferb, is set to executive-produce and voice-direct the upcoming 40 new episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series at Disney Branded Television. On the revival, Marsh is joining his longtime creative partner, series co-creator Dan Povenmire, who had been previously announced.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Phineas and Ferb” co-creator and executive producer Jeff “Swampy” Marsh is officially joining the revival of the series in the works at Disney Branded Television. It was announced in January that the beloved animated show was returning for 40 episodes, with co-creator Dan Povenmire spearheading the revival. Marsh will now serve as executive producer and voice director on the new episodes. “Swampy is one of the brightest creators in animation and among his many passions is connecting and collaborating with creative people, whether it’s through writing, animation design, directing, music or acting,” said Meredith Roberts, executive vice president of Television Animation at Disney Branded Television. “He continually elevates their artistry, as well as his own, to tell the bigger and more entertaining stories for global audiences. We’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership and look forward to a long and exciting road ahead.”

Disney Branded Television is developing Intercats, an animated cat workplace comedy for Disney+ from Baobab Studios (The Witchverse), screenwriter Pamela Ribon (Ralph Breaks the Internet, Moana) and Disney Television Animation, where Ribon has recently entered into a first-look deal. The project is Ribon’s first under the pact.

Veteran Disney execs Douglas Bensimon and Edward Mejia have been promoted to vice president of Current Series, Disney Television Animation, the animation studio within Disney Branded Television.

Jennifer Maas TV Business WriterDisney Branded Television has promoted Meredith Roberts to executive vice president of TV animation, the studio said Monday.The promotion comes for Roberts following “outstanding creative and operational oversight of the Disney Television Animation studio during a period of significant growth,” per Disney Branded TV.Most recently senior vice president/general manager of Television Animation at Disney Branded TV, Roberts has managed the division since  2018, overseeing development and current animated content and production for kids 6-14 and families, including traditional 2D and CG series, movies and shorts distributed on Disney+ and Disney Channel.The studio has 1,200 half-hours of animated content currently in production for Disney’s streaming and linear platforms, and during Roberts’ tenure in 2020, Disney Television Animation earned more Daytime Emmy Award nods than at any other point in its 38-year history. “A leader of incredible vision and a true champion of artistic talent, Meredith has set a new bar for Disney Television Animation, building upon the single greatest animation legacy in the world to lead a team that is creating the most innovative, magical animated storytelling in the business,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said during the announcement at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France on Monday.

Wright III to head of casting and talent relations.In his elevated role, Wright will continue to oversee all voice casting and talent relations for animated series and movies produced by Disney Television Animation, which is a provider of original content for Disney+, Disney Channel and Disney Junior, with a primary focus on imaginative, aspirational stories for kids, tweens, teens and families.Most recently vice president of casting and talent relations, Wright reports to Meredith Roberts, senior vice president and general manager of television animation at Disney Branded Television.

Writer-producer-director Latoya Raveneau is expanding her relationship with Disney. The Rise Up, Sing Out EP and Proud Family revival series director has signed an overall deal to develop and produce animated projects with Disney Television Animation and 20th Television Animation, along with live-action content development.

Selome Hailu Latoya Raveneau, director of “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” has entered an overall deal at Disney to develop and produce animated projects with Disney Television Animation and 20th Television Animation. The deal also includes terms for live-action content development.Through the new agreement, Raveneau is now developing a pilot at Disney Television Animation under the leadership of Meredith Roberts, the studio’s senior vice president and general manager.

Disney Television Animation has promoted longtime Disney exec Sarah Finn to SVP, Production, from her most recent VP role.
