Piers Morgan blasts "embarrassing" Thomas Tuchel after moan about referee's behaviour
Chelsea of bottling their Champions League clash against Real Madrid and branded Thomas Tuchel "embarrassing" over comments the Blues boss made about the referee after the match.Chelsea were agonisingly dumped out of Europe in spite of a 3-2 victory at the Bernabeu last night as Madrid battled back from 3-0 down to dramatically secure passage into the semi-finals.Blues fans had every reason to be upset after Marcos Alonso's second-half stunner was cruelly ruled out by VAR, while Casemiro's reckless challenge on Kai Havertz in the box was waved away by referee Szymon Marciniak - who was spotted laughing with Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti at full-time.During his post-match press conference, Tuchel said he was "disappointed" with Marciniak's actions, insisting that it was the "wrong time" for him to be fraternising with one of the coaches."When I wanted to go and say thank you for the match I see him laughing and smiling and laughing loud with the opponent … I think this is very very bad timing," said the Chelsea boss.Morgan - an avid Arsenal fan - didn't see it that way and offered up another explanation for the referee's antics. "They were probably laughing at how badly Chelsea choked after having the game in the bag … embarrassing by Tuchel," he tweeted.Chelsea weren't given much hope of progressing after being beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last week, but they managed to take control of the tie in the early stages following Mason Mount's opener.

Two things Thomas Tuchel got wrong and one he got right as Chelsea edge Plymouth in FA Cup
Chelsea progressed into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over League One side Plymouth Argyle after extra time - but it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Blues.Marcos Alonso came off the bench to score the winner in the 107th minute after he slotted home after a neat passing move by the Premier League outfit. There was a sense of relief as the full time whistle sounded, especially considering the away side took the lead through Macauley Gillespie in the 8th minute when the defender rose above Romelu Lukaku to guide a header past Kepa Arrizabalaga.Chelsea then equalised through captain Cesar Azpilicueta backheeled a smart finish from a cross from Callum Hudson-Odoi into the far corner four minutes before the half time break. The victory felt inevitable in extra time, though more so because Plymouth ran out of steam rather than Thomas Tuchel’s side upping the ante. However, the wheels almost fell off of the bus in the 115th minute after Malang Sarr made an error on the edge of his own box before bringing down Ryan Hardie in the penalty area, but his spot kick was saved.Tuchel wasn’t present at Stamford Bridge as he tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, though he was still in charge of the team from his home. So, what did the former PSG boss get right and wrong on the day?HAVE YOUR SAY! Thomas Tuchel ‘already has trio’ on summer transfer wishlist who would improve Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel has already identified a trio of summer transfer targets to improve his squad after Chelsea ended the winter window without any new arrivals.Having spent heavily last summer with a cool £97.5m deal for Romelu Lukaku, Roman Abramovich was unwilling to loosen the purse strings in January. The Blues' no.1 target was Emerson, a player already on their books, but a compensation fee of £3.3m was rejected by Lyon and the player will now see out the rest of the season at the Groupama Stadium.Though Chelsea did manage to get one Brazilian loanee back through the door, Kenedy has returned prematurely from Flamengo, giving competition for places at left wing-back.Kenedy will now compete with Marcos Alonso for a starting berth after Tuchel was unable to recall compatriot Emerson. The Spaniard has filled in for first choice left-back Ben Chilwell, since the England international's season-ending injury against Juventus, but performances have been below par.The Blues have won just one of their last five Premier League matches, slipping to third in the table and are 10 points behind leaders Manchester City, who also have a game in hand.HAVE YOUR SAY!
