Kate Aurthur editor Penn Badgley’s production company Ninth Mode and producer Raven Tahzib have acquired the rights to the David Sedaris short story “Jamboree,” in order to develop it into a feature film. “Jamboree” was part of Sedaris’ 1994 book “Barrel Fever,” his first published collection of short stories and essays. In the story, a 16-year-old boy who lives in his older sister’s garage ends up being the caretaker of her baby. “Jamboree” would be only the second time that Sedaris’ work has been adapted for film: 2013’s “C.O.G.,” from Kyle Patrick Alvarez, was based on an essay from the 1997 collection “Naked.” Badgley recently wrapped the fourth season of “You,” which will be released on Netflix in two parts next year: The first batch of episodes will premiere on Feb. 10, with the rest dropping a month later, on March 10.

Disney+ subscribers have been left confused after an original film which debuted just weeks ago has been pulled from the platform.

A bunch of nosy kids get into trouble looking for things they shouldn’t be in Disney’s latest sci-fi adventure film Crater. Directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez and written by John Griffin, the film follows five friends as they travel to a moon crater to find treasure  in the 23rd century. 

The wonders are small but mighty enough in “Crater,” a sincere Disney+ adventure from “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy, featuring some of that Netflix series’ pains about coming-of-age. For all that’s knowingly familiar in this crowd-pleaser, “Crater” wins out with craftiness and a mature heart, as director Kyle Patrick Alvarez guides a young cast of rising stars through that great unknown that’s getting older.

What mysteries does a crater hold? A group of friends is about to find out in the Disney+ original movie “Crater.” The film focuses on Caleb Channing, a young boy facing moving after his father’s death — his story just happens to take place in a lunar mining colony. Losing the life he’s known leads Caleb to team up with a few best friends, as well as a colony newcomer, to experience one last adventure together.

The first season had been entirely helmed by executive producer Sam Esmail, who created a very specific visual look for the show, including the use of long, tracking oners and different aspect ratios to denote different time periods within the story.

It’s one thing for an actor to replace a superstar in the second season of a TV series. For Amazon Prime’s “Homecoming” that meant Janelle Monae effectively needing to fill the shoes of one of the few real movie stars left in the world, Julia Roberts.
