Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorIt’s official: Kelly Campbell is the new president of Peacock, NBCUniversal announced.The appointment comes two days after Campbell announced that she was leaving Disney’s Hulu, where she had served as president.Campbell will join the Peacock leadership team starting in November and will be based in the Los Angeles area.

Kelly Campbell, who just abruptly exited as president of Hulu, has been in discussions with NBCUniversal for a top job at streaming service Peacock, sources told Variety.Insiders said under the role being considered, Campbell would report into Matt Strauss, chairman of direct-to-consumer and international at NBCU, who reports up to Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.In addition to Campbell, other candidates are under consideration for the Peacock role, according to a source familiar with the situation; this source said there are no official offers on the table right now.

Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorAfter less than two years as Hulu’s president, Kelly Campbell has left the Disney-owned streaming service.Campbell’s departure was announced to staff by Rebecca Campbell, Disney’s chairman of international operations and direct-to-consumer. Kelly Campbell’s direct reports at Hulu will report to Rebecca Campbell (the two are not related) until a replacement is named for the position.Kelly Campbell joined Hulu in 2017 as chief marketing officer, and in February 2020 she was promoted to president, coming after Randy Freer’s exit as CEO of Hulu.Before Hulu, she spent 12 years at Google, working in various leadership and marketing roles in Google Ads and Google Cloud.

Hulu has elevated key programming executives Reagan Feeney and Brian Henderson to SVP roles.

One of the programs that launched Disney+ was a Lady and the Trump reboot, and The Walt Disney Studio original movies have been a key element of the streaming platform’ original programming strategy.

Not long after Randy Freer stepped down as CEO of Hulu, Kelly Campbell got a call from Disney direct-to-consumer and international chairman Kevin Mayer. He wanted the Hulu CMO to vie for the job as the streamer's president.
