Sam Fender, Dave and Little Simz were among the winners at The Ivors 2022, which took place at London’s Grovesnor House tonight (May 19).The annual award ceremony celebrates songwriting and composing in both popular music and in film, TV and video game scores.Fender took him the trophy for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for ‘Seventeen Going Under’, the title track from his second album, which was released last year. The win marks his first Ivors victory.Dave was named Songwriter of the Year for his work on the Top 10 single ‘Titanium’ and his chart-topping second album ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’, as well as collaborations with Fredo.

Thania Garcia Songwriting partners Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon have received Ivor Novello nominations for the 2023 iteration of the awards show that honors British or Irish songwriters and composers. They’re tied with Cleo Soul (Cleopatra Nikolic) and Dean “Inflo” Josiah Cover as the most nominated pair of the evening with three nominations each. In partnership with Amazon Music, the Ivors have also selected Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine), Styles and Harpoon, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers (Wet Leg), George Daniel and Matty Healy (the 1975), and Central Cee and Young Chencs as nominees for the coveted songwriter of the year category.

Inflo has announced the launch of a new campaign aimed at setting a base rate and royalty structure for new and emerging producers in the UK music industry.Teaming up with artist manager Nathan Burke, Inflo’s partner at the Forever Living Originals label, the campaign was announced in a statement published on his Instagram.“Nathan & I have been on a mission to introduce a base rate and royalty for young producers in the UK,” he wrote. “This will ensure young producers are protected on any major label releases and have a code of conduct to go by.”He continued: “Everyone agrees no young or upcoming producers should be exploited, and the artist shouldn’t have to give up any further royalty share than they already have been.

Sault appear to be teasing a new project called ‘Air’ after wiping their instagram and uploading five snippets of new music – listen below.The series of new posts begins with an image that sees the word “Air” written onto a blank background, similar to album covers for Sault’s previous records ‘5’, ‘7’ and ‘Nine’.A post shared by SAULT (@saultglobal)That post is then followed by five of the same image of a painted figure looking out over the Earth from on high. With less than two weeks to go before this year’s BRIT Awards, Inflo has been announced as the winner of this year’s British Producer Of The Year prize.Real name Dean Josiah Cover, Inflo has worked with artists including Adele, Little Simz and Michael Kiwuanuka, as well as leading his own project, Sault. Although the best producer trophy has been handed out in some capacity as part of most BRIT Awards ceremonies since 1977 – generally not as part of the main ceremony and for a time in partnership with the Music Producers Guild Awards – he is the first black producer to take away the prize.“As the first black music producer to ever win a BRIT for Best Producer, I feel honoured to be a part of change”, says Inflo.

Chris Willman Music WriterIn advance of the upcoming 2022 Brit Awards, it was revealed Friday that Inflo has been named producer of the year, with his honors set to be given out on the red carpet preceding the live ceremony at the O2 Arena in London Feb. 8.Besides having recently won plaudits for working with Adele on three tracks on her smash album “30” (“Woman Like Me,” “Hold On” and “Love Is a Game”), Inflo is best known for his own acclaimed R&B collective, Sault.“As the first Black music producer to ever win a Brit for best producer, I feel honored to be a part of change,” said Inflo, aka Dean Josiah Cover, in a statement.
