Whitletts Victoria put faith in warhorse defender, 42, as boss George Grierson hails key signing
George Grierson says it was a no brainer to sign Chris McGowan – even although he’s looking forward to his 43rd birthday. The old warhorse defender has won almost every honour in the game with Cumnock, Kilwinning and Irvine Meadow before helping Dalry lift the Ayrshire District League in 2018.But despite not having played for a year, Grierson is adamant veteran McGowan will be a key signing for Whitletts Vics.McGowan faced up against his son, Chris jnr, as he made his Vics debut in a 1-1 draw against Kilwinning last week.Grierson quipped: “He didn’t look out of place against a team who will be challenging in the Premier. Son still couldn’t beat his dad.“Chris will be a great signing for us and it was a no brainer.
