The Queen's death was announced on 8 September at 6:30pm leading to a change in programming, including one of EastEnders' episodes. Ahead of the first show to air after the Queen's death, a pre-scene showed a number of characters paying tribute to the 96-year-old in the Queen Vic pub.

ITV has confirmed it will run live and uninterrupted coverage of the late Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral. The coverage of the ceremony, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday September 19 and has been deemed a UK bank holiday, will be preceded by Good Morning Britain, which will give viewers a preview of proceedings.
