Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music It’s approaching the end of a tough month at Atlantic Music Group, as Julie Greenwald, who has been at the top of the company for more than 20 years, prepares to leave the company that she played an essential role in making one of the most successful and consistent labels in music industry history. Since she joined the company in 2004 from Def Jam Records and Rush Management with longtime boss Lyor Cohen, she and longtime co-chair Craig Kallman have played an invaluable role in the success and often the rise of artists including but hardly limited to Cardi B, Brandi Carlile, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay, Jack Harlow, Lil Uzi Vert, Lizzo, Charli XCX, Kehlani, Bruno Mars, Janelle Monáe, Panic! at the Disco, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Tiësto, Rob Thomas, Twenty One Pilots, and Wiz Khalifa, as well as award-winning projects like “Barbie the Album” and the Original Broadway Cast Recordings of “Hamilton” and “Dear Evan Hansen.” Under Atlantic, the company’s subsidiary labels, including 300, ATCO, Big Beat, DTA, Elektra, Fueled By Ramen, Low Country Sound, Public Consumption, and Roadrunner, have thrived.

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music After an extensive round of layoffs last week that saw some 170 people leaving the company, Atlantic Music Group has unveiled the new leadership structure that will be in place when new CEO Elliot Grainge takes the helm from longtime chief Julie Greenwald next week. The move, which is positioned as the first phase of the new structure, sees multiple longtime execs such as Craig Kallman, Lanre Gaba, Kevin Weaver, Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab elevated to new roles while some veterans from Grainge’s 10K Projects take on enhanced roles as well.

Thania Garcia Brandon Davis and Jeff Levin have been re-upped to executive vice presidents and co-heads of pop A&R for Atlantic Records‘ Warner Music imprint; both will be based in Los Angeles, and report to Atlantic President of A&R, Pete Ganbarg. “Both Brandon and Jeff have worked at Atlantic their entire professional lives, rising from entry-level intern and assistant positions to become an integral part of the leadership of our A&R team,” commented Ganbarg. “I couldn’t be happier for them and am thrilled to recognize their contributions with these well-deserved promotions.” Previously, the pair of execs held positions as senior VPs of A&R. Davis joined Atlantic 11 years ago as an assistant in the A&R department, and Levin joined in 2010 and has since A&R’d a wide range of WMG artists. His signings include Melanie Martinez (“Cry Baby”), Ben Platt’s debut album and signed Oliver Tree. Most recently, Levin A&R’d Charlie Puth’s third album, “Charlie,” which includes the gold-certified single, “Left and Right” featuring Jungkook of BTS.

Thania Garcia Atlantic Records and Andrew Watt’s Gold Tooth Records have launched a joint venture with Iggy Pop as their first signing. The punk icon will be releasing his as-yet-untitled new album will be released through the label, with the first single, “Frenzy,” arriving Oct. 28. “I’m the guy with no shirt who rocks; Andrew and Gold Tooth get that, and we made a record together the old-fashioned way,” said Pop in a statement announcing the partnership. “The players are guys I’ve known since they were kids and the music will beat the shit out of you. Have a great day.” Pop’s album will feature production from Grammy Award-winning producer Watt and is his first full-length studio effort since “Free” in 2019, via Loma Vista.

In her new post, Greenwald oversees Atlantic Records — including the Atlantic, Atco, Big Beat, and Canvasback labels — as well as 300 Elektra Entertainment, which encompasses 300, Elektra, Fueled by Ramen, Roadrunner, Low Country Sound, DTA, and Public Consumption. Greenwald and Craig Kallman will continue to jointly lead Atlantic Records, with Kallman continuing as chairman & CEO. Late last year, the company launched 300 Elektra Entertainment with Kevin Liles as chairman-CEO, merging the two labels as part of Atlantic parent Warner Music’s acquisition of 300 Entertainment.

Atlantic Records has announced the promotion of three of its top A&R execs: Brandon Davis and Jeff Levin have both been upped to Senior Vice President, A&R, while Riggs Morales has been named Senior Vice President, A&R & Artist Development. Morales, who is based in New York, reports to Atlantic Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman, while Davis and Levin, who are both based in Los Angeles, report to Atlantic President of A&R Pete Ganbarg.
