Arkane Austin was working on updates for Redfall hours before Microsoft confirmed it was closing down the studio.According to reports, Arkane Austin had been developing an offline mode for the first-person shooter as well as working on Redfall‘s Hero DLC, which had been sold as part of the £80 ($100) Bite Back edition. The studio had been hoping to finally launch the DLC this Halloween.IGN sources claim the studio had been expecting to release an offline mode for the “always online” Redfall later this month, a feature fans had been requesting since before the game had even launched.

Xbox and Bethesda showcase this summer we got a good look at Redfall from Arkane Studios. The new open world co-op shooter kicked the show off and since then we’ve been given more details on the game’s story.

Arkane Studios’ cancelled Half-Life 2 spin-off Ravenholm has been shown off in a video published online, over a decade since its demise. The footage was shared by Noclip – a YouTube channel making video game documentaries – yesterday (May 4), and it has multiple long chapters dedicated to the differing levels of the cancelled Ravenholm.As noted by Danny O’Dwyer, Noclip is able to show large pieces of footage due to a previous documentary where it visited Arkane Studios, and presents each clip with context. The build of Ravenholm in the video below was put together towards the end of development in an effort to show Valve progress of the game, even though it wasn’t complete.Each stint of footage is scored with context from O’Dwyer, who explains that despite the player having a HEV suit, the Half-Life title wouldn’t have starred Gordon Freeman.

Deathloop game director Dinga Bakaba has shared his thoughts on what the team at Arkane Studios wanted to create with Deathloop‘s PvP multiplayer.As spotted by IGN, Bakaba recently opened up about the PvP mode for upcoming FPS Deathloop in a video titled ‘Deep dive into Deathloop with Arkane Lyon’.In the video, Bakaba stated:“What drove us to add [PvP] to the game was not the competitive aspect of it really, that’s why there’s no leaderboard, nothing like that, it was really the fact that this is an anecdote generator.”Elaborating, Bakaba says that the multiplayer will create stories that will leave players saying “I really didn’t plan for it to go that way, but that was so awesome”.
