Eddie Marsan has joined the cast of Supacell, Blue Story director Rapman’s Netflix drama series about a group of South Londoners who develop superpowers.

MasterChef judge John Torode was one of three people who were honoured by Prince William at Buckingham Palace earlier today.The celebrity chef was made an MBE for his services to food and charity, while Professor Sir David MacMillan received his knighthood for services to chemistry and science. John, 57, has written several cookbooks and appeared on ITV’s This Morning in the late 1990s before taking over as a MasterChef judge in 2005 alongside Gregg Wallace.The chef wore a navy frock to the occasion as he attended the Palace ceremony.

Naman Ramachandran “Billions” actor Damian Lewis, actor-director Rapman (“Blue Story”), writer Salman Rushdie (“Midnight’s Children”) and All3Media CEO Jane Turton are among those in the arts and entertainment field recognized in the annual Queen’s birthday honors.Lewis has been recognized as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to drama and charity. Also accorded a CBE is filmmaker Isaac Julien, Berlin winner for “Derek.”Rushdie has been accorded the Member of the Order of the Companions of Honor accolade for services to literature alongside illustrator and writer Quentin Blake (“Jackanory”), for services to illustration.Director Andrew Onwubolu, also known as Rapman, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to drama and music.

Netflix has announced five new scripted series that it has commissioned out of the UK, all of which will shoot in the country in 2022.

As per the latest news reports, Hollywood actor Russell Crowe is all set to portray a ruthless mobster in Paramount Pictures film titled American Son. The makers of the upcoming film, American Son are reportedly still hunting for the lead actor, but according to a news report in Variety, A Beautiful Mind actor Russell Crowe will be playing the villain who is a notorious mobster. The news reports suggest that the highly anticipated film, American Son will be helmed by Andrew Onwubolu. This film is reportedly based on a film called A Prophet.

Although it presumably didn't involve much financial risk, it was a gutsy move for Paramount Pictures to pick up the low-budget British teen gang drama Blue Story for domestic theatrical distribution in the current era in which studios concentrate on would-be franchises. So it's a shame that the current pandemic has forced the debut feature from British hip-hop artist/filmmaker Rapman (real name Andrew Onwubolu) to forgo its planned March theatrical release and instead premiere on digital platforms, where it may have a more difficult time attracting the zeitgeisty buzz it deserves.

Blue Story creator Rapman is definitely not letting the coronavirus lockdown stop his creativity, with the filmmaker currently writing a sci-fi about the pandemic.

The blockbusters will be postponed, the indie films in many cases will head straight to streaming. But even before the apple cart of movie distribution got tipped over, “Blue Story” had traced an unlikely path. An artfully corrosive British youth-gang drama, at once jaggedly real and modly stylized, it was written and directed by Andrew Onwubolu, the London-based rapper, producer, actor, and director who bills himself as Rapman, and who spun the movie out of the short-story rap-video aesthetic he made into a YouTube sensation.
