Paul Scholes insists he must have been a "nightmare" for Roy Keane when playing alongside him in a deeper midfield role for Manchester United.
Scholes enjoyed brilliant Old Trafford career that spanned almost two decades and included 11 Premier League title wins, while Keane was a formidable club captain.
In his early days with the Red Devils, Scholes was given licence to roam forward and support the attack under Sir Alex Ferguson.
But as the years passed he was told to conserve his energy and play a quarterback-like role for the team. Sometimes this meant playing alongside midfield general Keane but Scholes was never known for his tackling or defensive ability.
