Paul Mescal is transporting Oz to ancient Rome! In the latest installment of Saturday Night Live, the Irish actor took up hosting duties… And hilariously reimagined his blockbuster hit Gladiator II as a Wicked-inspired musical!

Ha! In a mock trailer for the sword-and-sandal flick, a narrator says: In one song, Kenan Thompson sings “there’s no place like Rome” in a hysterical take on of The Wizard of Oz’s classic “there’s no place like home.” LOLz!

And at the end of the sketch, Paul is seen flying away from the Colosseum on a broomstick wearing a Wicked Witch of the West hat while singing “There’s no place like Rome” — but to the melody of Cynthia Erivo’s iconic Defying Gravity battle cry.
