“A Streetcar Named Desire” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Harvey Theater from February through April 2025.This won’t be Mescal’s first time inhabiting the iconic role.
Prior to hitting Brooklyn, the 28-year-old actor played the part made famous by Marlon Brando at London’s West End. In 2023, he won an Olivier Award.At all Brooklyn shows, the “Gladiator II” star will be joined by most of his West End cast mates.
Co-star and fellow Olivier winner Anjana Vasan is set to reprise her role as Stella; Patsy Ferran has been tapped to play Blanche Du Dois again.
The show’s original director Rebecca Frecknall — who is currently helming “Cabaret” on Broadway — returns as well.For those unfamiliar with the source material, Tennessee Williams’ play follows former Southern belle Blanche who shacks up at a New Orleans apartment with her younger sister Stella and brother-in-law Stanley.
