It looks like Jacob Elordi could be taking over a major new role from Paul Mescal! Paul was originally linked to star in Ridley Scott‘s upcoming apocalypse film The Dog Stars, but it looks like that is no longer happening. Now, Jacob is reportedly in “early negotiations” to portray “a pilot named Hig who befriends a cranky gunman as they try to outlast a roaming band of scavengers called Reapers.” The movie is based on the 2012 book “The Dog Stars” by Peter Heller, which you can buy now from Walmart.

Here’s the book’s synopsis: Hig’s wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in the hangar of a small abandoned airport with his dog, Jasper, and a mercurial, gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley.

But when a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside him that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter.
