direct to your inboxPart of GMP's troubled new computer system is to be taken off-line for a planned major upgrade tomorrow (Tuesday).Force bosses have promised 'minimal disruption to our service' until the system is switched back on later the same day.The upgrade is partly designed to make it easier for cops to carry out a 'fuzzy' or a phonetic search for different spellings of a name - a key tool in tracking down criminals which had been a feature of the system it replaced.GMP has been dogged by problems since it introduced its Integrated Operational Policing System (iOPS) at a cost of £27m in July 2019, some 19 months behind schedule.
