Outraged couple confront village shop owner over Golliwogs for sale in window

A couple has been left stunned after spotting Golliwogs for sale in a shop window. They came across the dolls in the window of The Village Store And Gift Centre in Goathland, near Whitby in North Yorkshire.

The pair claim they also found "an obsessive amount" of other "racist" memorabilia, including keyrings and fridge magnets, being sold in the shop, reports Teesside Live.

The couple were visiting the village, where ITV drama Heartbeat was filmed, after spending the night camping nearby. The man told the female shop owner that he was offended by the items and questioned why she was selling the memorabilia.
