A British Boxing Day tsunami survivor has shared her experience of the horrific day that left her orphaned as a young girl. Rosie Forkan, now 24, grew up in Hampshire and was holidaying in Sri Lanka with her parents and three brothers on December 26, 2004.
She has revisited her painful story of survival and loss, on the 16-year anniversary of the disaster that cost so many their lives, reports Hampshire Live.
The 9.1 magnitude earthquake that jolted the Indian Ocean's seafloor upwards, triggered a deadly tsunami which went on to claim the lives of around 230,000 people, including Rosie's parents.
Sri Lanka was one of the worst affected countries in the disaster, with a death toll of more than 30,000, including Rosie's mum Sandra Forkan,
