Newcastle are 'growing increasingly hopeful' of signing Christian Eriksen.The Danish player, 30, is currently at Brentford but his contract is up in the summer.
The former Tottenham attacker has enjoyed a brilliant spell on his return to football following his cardiac arrest while on international duty during Euro 2020 and this has consequently garnered interest from rival clubs.He left Inter Milan and joined the Bees on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
And now it appears that the Magpies are growing 'hopeful' that they will be able to get the Dane to sign for them during the summer window.The Northern Echo says that interest is certainly there by the club, who are of the belief that a deal could come to fruition.
Sources told the paper that they see Eriksen as a possible ‘flagship’ signing. But the side will face competition from Manchester United who also have eyes on the player, as well as his former club Tottenham.
