New State Pension update for half a million older people not due payment uprating next April

More than 132,000 people have signed an online petition supporting Second World War veteran Anne Puckridge’s campaign to meet with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on behalf of half a million victims of the ‘Frozen Pensions’ scandal to discuss a resolution for those living in countries without a non-reciprocal agreement with the UK Government.

However, due to a busy schedule Sir Keir Starmer is unable to meet with Mrs Puckridge, who is set to turn 100 this month. Not to be deterred, the 99-year-old has travelled 4,400 miles from her home in Canada and will meet with MPs and campaigns over the next few days to raise awareness of the impact frozen State Pensions have on British nationals living abroad.

Mrs Puckridge is set to meet with Pensions Minister Emma Reynolds MP today (December 3) and is due to be in the public gallery for Prime Minister’s Questions tomorrow, where her attendance will no doubt be acknowledged by MPs supporting the campaign.The decorated war veteran will also be joining members of the End Frozen Pensions campaign to hand a petition into Downing Street on Thursday before travelling back to Canada on Friday.The Prime Minister recently wrote to Mrs Puckridge declining her request for a meeting due to his schedule, but arranged a meeting with the Pensions Minister instead.The veteran was “saddened” and “disappointed” at the Prime Minister’s decision, but is still urging him to reconsider a meeting while she is still in London.She said: “I am deeply saddened and disappointed that the Prime Minister feels unable to meet.
