Tens of thousands of people across the UK have just two days to apply for pension credit in order to qualify for Winter Fuel Payments.

After coming into power, the Labour government controversially scrapped the payments for any elderly people who did not receive pension credit.

Pension credit acts as a gateway benefit, so not only is it worth an average of £3,900 per year, it means that people who are eligible may also qualify for help with housing costs and energy bills.

However, many people who are eligalbe do not currently claim it - and they have until Saturday, December 21, to apply and qualify for this year's Winter Fuel Payment.
