Two more flood warnings have been issued near Greater Manchester - with people in the affected areas urged to 'act now'. Two Met Office weather warnings remain in force across the region - for heavy rain and snow and ice, with a third in place for Tuesday (January 7).

Earlier on Monday, the Environment Agency said the two flood warnings have been issued 'as a precaution' due to 'damage to an embankment associated with the River Mersey Didsbury flood basin'.

Flood warnings mean flooding is expected in a given area. One warning covers the River Mersey at Cheadle Wood and Ford Lane, covering Parrs Wood High School and Heaton Mersey Valley Golf Course in Stockport.

The second covers the Mersey at Fletcher Moss and Withington Golf Course. Land adjacent to the River Mersey at West Didsbury together with Withington golf course, properties on Stenner lane, near the rugby Club, the allotments and Fletcher Moss Park are all said to be at risk.
