After a milder few weeks since early January's snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures, the region is set to experience another bout of wintry weather as we approach the weekend.
The latest Met Office maps forecast snow flurries in some parts of Greater Manchester in early Friday morning (January 31). A band of rain and hail is set to sweep across the region as Thursday night turns into Friday morning.
However, the northern and eastern parts of Greater Manchester will experience more wintry conditions and snowfall. The latest Met Office maps show snow flurries on higher ground north of Bolton and Rochdale from 1.30am.
Snow is forecast to be more widespread by 2am, covering areas near Oldham and Tameside, heading into the Peak District. Those conditions are forecast to continue for several hours, while heavy rain will fall on the rest of Greater Manchester.
