New map shows places predicted to be coronavirus 'hotspots' when lockdown ends

Most local authorities in the UK are projected to be coronavirus hotspots in a fortnight when England is due to lift its national lockdown.

In England, Hull, Swale, Hartlepool, East Lindsey, Dudley and Stoke-on-Trent are predicted to have some of the highest infection rates.

They could be plunged into the highest local lockdown tier if the national shutdown ends as planned on December 2. This map, created by Covid-19 researchers, projects red zones across almost all of England and swathes of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on that date.
