New Livingston Women’s signing Courtney McAvoy says joining the Lionesses has been a ‘breath of fresh air’.The attacking midfielder made the move to West Lothian from Boroughmuir Thistle as the club prepare for their maiden SWPL2 campaign. And despite being the new kids on the block, McAvoy insists the side are more than capable of mixing it with the rest of the division.Speaking to the Courier, she said: “From chatting to the manager it seemed like a really professional set-up and a club that tries to go about things the right way on and off the park and that was a really big selling point.“As soon as I was signed, I was handed a brand new kit and you get the chance to train twice a week and play games in a 10,000-seater stadium.
That’s not something I’m used to and it was appealing.“The staff and players have all been brilliant and really welcoming. It’s been great since I’ve been here and all the ideas that I was sold on are true.
It’s really been like a breath of fresh air to be honest because you don’t often get that in the women’s game.”She added: “Mike was my coach at university and I worked with him for four years and we did really well.
He knows me as a player and I know him as a coach and it was a move that really made a lot of sense from me.”McAvoy will be re-uniting with former Thistle team-mates Hannah Davie and Shannon Todd, something she’s excited by, saying: “Hannah is honestly one of the best young players in the country.
