In recent weeks, the UK has seen petrol prices dropping to its “lowest level in four years” to just £1 per litre. According to latest government data, the costs we’re currently seeing are the cheapest they’ve ever been since 2016.

And while numbers of road traffic is a lot lower because of the coronavirus pandemic, the price of fuel is still the best it’s been for years.

Today Morrisons announced it will be bringing the price of its unleaded down to a maximum of 99.7p per litre and diesel to 104.7p at all of its forecourts across the UK.

This marks the first time petrol has been sold nationally for under £1 since February 2016 and drivers will have only seen fuel this cheap since the financial crisis in 2008-09.
