Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United may have started the season with a win but there are still puzzles for Erik ten Hag to solve after his side’s 1-0 victory over Wolves.
Raphael Varane’s header in the second half proved to be the difference on the night but newly-appointed Wolves boss Gary O’Neil would have felt aggrieved at leaving Old Trafford with nothing.
United had a lucky escape thanks to Wolves’ toothlessness in front of a goal - and a controversy late penalty decision - while the Reds’ frontline had a similarly frustrating night.
Ten Hag is now finalising his plan for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off) as Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou looks to mark his first home game with a statement win.
