Met Office reveals how long snow will stay on ground as Storm Bert brings 40cm

Storm Bert is set to unleash a wintry blast across the UK, with the Met Office forecasting as much as 40cm of snow in some regions.

A series of weather warnings for snow, ice, rain, and wind are in effect from across the weekend, with Saturday (November 23) poised to see the harshest conditions.

A yellow rain and snow warning is set to come into force from the north of Scotland right down to the Midlands in England.There is also an amber warning for some parts of Scotland, covering parts of Aberdeenshire, Argyll and Bute, Highland, Stirling, Perth and Kinross, as well as Angus, where 40cm of snow could settle on the ground.
