Met Office issues severe amber 80mph wind warning as Storm Darragh named

The Met Office has upgraded a weather warning for the weekend with a named storm confirmed. Meteorologists have named Storm Darragh, which will bring strong winds and heavy rain to the UK tomorrow (December 6).

Three yellow weather warnings were already in force over the coming days, but the Met Office has now issued a more severe amber warning.

The warning is for 'potentially damaging winds' and lasts from 3am on Saturday morning to 9pm on Saturday night. It covers coastal areas of the North West, plus much of Wales, the South West, south west Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The rest of England, including Greater Manchester, is covered by a yellow warning for wind from 3pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday. READ MORE: "Absolutely disgusting!"
