A public trial that would see Meghan Markle coming face to face with her estranged father could be "traumatic" for both her and her husband Prince Harry, sources have said.
The couple are suing Associated Newspapers claiming a breach of privacy after the Mail on Sunday published extracts of a private letter Meghan sent to her dad in August 2018, two months after her wedding.
The letter had complaints about 76-year-old Thomas Markle's behaviour before and after Meghan tied the knot with Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May that year.
Lawyers for the senior royal couple are now due to appear at the High Court, where they will battle for a summary judgment so a full-on trial with witnesses can be avoided, the Sunday Times reports.
