Martin Lewis warned one million in the UK could be missing out on £3,000 a year in the form of pension credits. The 48-year-old urged retired Brits to act now as the Government prepares to axe free TV licences for over-75s next month.
Writing in his weekly Money Saving Expert email, Martin said millions are currently missing out on pension credit. Anyone over the state pension age who lives in the UK and earns less than £173.75 a week as a single person or £365.20 a week as a couple could be entitled to the scheme.Those who qualify may be able to entitled to thousands of pounds worth of additional savings, including a free TV licence for over-75s.From August 1, free TV licences will only be available to those who claim pension credit so now.
