Marcus Rashford (born 31 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.
A Manchester United player from the age of seven, he scored two goals on both his first-team debut against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016 and his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later.
He also scored in his first Manchester derby match, his first EFL Cup match and his first UEFA Champions League match. With United, Rashford has so far won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League.
Marcus Rashford picked up some campaigning tips from former US President Barack Obama after meeting for the first time for a zoom call.
The footballer, who has made a name for himself campaigning for free school meals, was introduced to Obama by Penguin Books who publish the politician.
They talked about shared experiences including being raised by single mothers and a love of reading. Obama said: “A lot of the young people I meet — including Marcus — they’re ahead of where I was when I was 23.
They’re already making changes and being positive forces in their communities. ”Rashford, 23, last year spearheaded a prominent campaign to tackle child food poverty in the UK during the coronavirus pandemic.
