A manhunt has been launched in New York after a man was filmed attempting to rape a woman at a busy subway station. He pushed her to the ground and climbed on top of her as bystanders filmed it.
Despite exchanging angry words, no one attempted to drag the man off or detain him. It happened at around 11am yesterday as the woman, aged 25, waited for a Q train on the Upper East side, ABC News reports.
According to reports in the US, the man stopped when a crowd formed around him. Reporter Myles Miller posted on Twitter : "In the original video the woman is heard screaming and the crowd yells at the suspect to get off of her." The man is seen casually picking up his sunglasses before walking away.
