A firm which is working on major highways schemes in Manchester has won an award for the added benefits brought to the city through its work.
Transport infrastructure company Colas Ltd scooped the 'Social Value' award at the 2020 Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) North West Awards, in recognition of its desire to go the extra mile for Manchester’s residents and communities.
During the improvement works for the Princess Road’s junction with the Mancunian Way, Colas committed to supporting local homeless people on their journey to finding stable accommodation and becoming employed.
This included providing pre-employment support and training for 60 homeless and long-term unemployed people, in association with local charities
