Manchester's museums and galleries begin closing over coronavirus

Manchester's museums have begun announcing closures as the coronavirus crisis continues. The Science and Industry Museum in Castlefield is among the attractions shut to the public until further notice.

Manchester Museum on Oxford Road, the People's History Museum in Spinningfields, the National Football Museum in Cathedral Gardens and the Imperial War Museum North at Salford Quays, have also announced temporary closures.

Galleries have also shut down, including Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street, The Whitworth on Oxford Road, and the Chinese Centre for Contemporary Art in the Northern Quarter.
