The Manchester Arena bomber was flagged twice to MI5 in the months leading up to the atrocity and was pals with a suspected terrorist once arrested for a failed suicide attack.
The inquiry into the bombing heard Salman Abedi, who killed 22 people, was with extremist Mansour al-Anezi, on his deathbed in 2017.
Al-Anezi, who died of cancer, had been arrested over a failed suicide attack on a restaurant in Exeter. No charges were ever brought but al-Anezi’s close associate Nicky Reilly got life for the 2008 restaurant attack.
The inquiry heard Abedi “was due to be considered for further investigation” by MI5 when he targeted the Ariana Grande concert on May 22, 2017.
