It happened just off Piccadilly Gardens at around 3:45pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday). Greater Manchester Police said a 25-year-old man was attacked by another man outside the Morrisons supermarket.
He suffered stab wounds to the face, arm and shoulder in the assault. He was taken to hospital for treatment, however, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening a spokesman said.
No arrests have yet been made but police said it is believed to be an 'isolated incident.' They are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
