Haaland’s release clause is set to come into effect at the end of the current season, with the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all vying with City to land the 21-year-old.
The Blues could well step up their attempts to bring the Norwegian to the Etihad, with Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic looking set for a move to Juventus.
City fans might be encouraged though after seeing an update from club legend Goater. The former striker responded to a tweet from a supporter asking for him to confirm Haaland’s transfer to City, and said: “We are so close, I’m doing my best…” City would appear to be at the front of the queue when it comes to Premier League clubs, although recent reports have suggested Haaland would favour a move to Madrid instead.
